Location: Gardnerville, NV
Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $50,000–$70,000 annually (dependent on experience)
(Approximately $28–$38 per hour)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Gunsmith – Precision Barrel Specialist with a strong background in contouring and chambering rifle barrels. This role focuses on producing high-accuracy components for AR-15 platforms and bolt-action rifles used in competition shooting. The ideal candidate takes pride in precision craftsmanship and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform precision contouring, chambering, and finishing of rifle barrel blanks for AR-15 platforms (e.g., .223/5.56, .224 Valkyrie, 6mm ARC) and bolt-action platforms (e.g., 6.5 Creedmoor)
  • Operate manual lathes, CNC machines, mills, and related tooling to meet exact specifications for twist rates, chamber dimensions, and profiles
  • Inspect and test barrels for straightness, bore alignment, headspace, and surface finish to ensure sub-MOA accuracy
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, tool calibration, and safety standards in compliance with firearms manufacturing regulations
  • Collaborate with production and sales teams on custom orders, lead times, and quality control

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience in gunsmithing with a focus on rifle barrel contouring and chambering
  • Proven experience working on AR-15 and bolt-action rifle platforms
  • Familiarity with SAAMI specifications and common cartridges such as .223, .308 Winchester, and 6.5 Creedmoor
  • Proficient with precision measuring and inspection tools (borescopes, headspace gauges, micrometers)
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow detailed machining instructions
  • Experience with CNC machining operations preferred
  • Formal gunsmith certification or equivalent trade experience preferred
  • Nevada residency or willingness to relocate
