What you’ll be doing

We are seeking dedicated Custodians to join our team at Marathon Staffing. Custodians are responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across public spaces, events, classrooms, labs, and offices. This role ensures that all building occupants enjoy professional housekeeping standards and inviting workspaces.

You will be responsible for…

  • Sweep, mop, polish, and strip floors in rooms and hallways
  • Dust and/or polish furniture, blinds, and equipment
  • Vacuum, spot clean, and extract carpets and upholstered furniture using commercial equipment
  • Follow all workplace safety precautions and procedures
  • Clean restrooms and refill dispensers with supplies (paper towels, toilet paper, soap, etc.)
  • Empty trash cans and mop restroom floors with proper cleaning chemicals
  • Report malfunctions of bathroom fixtures, lighting, or damaged furnishings to Supervisor
  • Replace light bulbs as needed and initiate work orders for repairs or maintenance
  • Move furniture, equipment, or fixtures when required
  • Maintain stock of appropriate cleaning and facility supplies

What skills & experience you’ll bring to us

  • Previous custodial or housekeeping experience preferred
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety practices
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving furniture, and extended periods of walking or standing
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability
  • Must be able to work throughout campus buildings, be comfortable working independently or as part of a team to ensure facilities are kept in excellent condition
