Job Overview

We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Traffic Control Technician to support the City of Glendale at its landfill facility. In this role, you will help maintain safe and efficient traffic flow by directing vehicles throughout the landfill and guiding drivers to the appropriate areas.

This is a long-term employment opportunity with the potential to be hired directly by the City of Glendale. The ideal candidate is alert, reliable, comfortable working outdoors, and able to communicate clearly with drivers and coworkers.

Please note: This location is not accessible by public transportation. Candidates must have reliable personal transportation to and from the worksite.

Responsibilities

• Direct incoming and outgoing traffic throughout the landfill facility.

• Guide drivers to designated unloading, disposal, and staging areas.

• Use hand signals, flags, cones, signs, and other traffic control devices as needed.

• Help maintain safe distances between vehicles and pedestrians.

• Monitor traffic conditions and communicate potential safety concerns to supervisors.

• Maintain a safe, organized, and orderly traffic flow throughout the facility.

• Follow all established safety procedures, policies, and instructions.

• Communicate professionally with drivers, city employees, and members of the public.

• Assist with additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver's license.

• Must pass a background check.

• Must have reliable personal transportation to and from the worksite; public transportation is not available at this location.

• Must be dependable and maintain consistent attendance.

• Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Ability to communicate clearly and follow safety instructions.

• Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to workplace safety.

• Previous traffic control, flagging, construction, or similar experience is preferred but not required.

Schedule and Opportunity

• Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.
