Marathon Staffing is seeking an experienced Slitter Operator for a long-term industrial manufacturing opportunity. We are looking for a highly skilled professional with a proven background operating slitting equipment in a metal processing or manufacturing environment. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong technical aptitude, and the ability to consistently produce high-quality material within precise customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor slitting equipment according to production specifications.
  • Read and interpret work orders, production schedules, and material requirements.
  • Perform knife setup, tooling changes, and machine adjustments to ensure accurate slit widths and tolerances.
  • Conduct quality inspections using measuring devices and gauges.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain production efficiency and product quality.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and identify root causes of material or equipment defects.
  • Maintain accurate production records, quality documentation, and inventory usage reports.
  • Safely handle coils, sheet metal, and finished materials utilizing overhead cranes, forklifts, and related equipment as required.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and assist with equipment upkeep.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and operating procedures while maintaining a clean work area.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of recent slitter operation experience required.
  • Previous experience operating metal slitting equipment in a manufacturing, steel, aluminum, or metal processing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to read precision measuring instruments and maintain tight tolerances.
  • Experience interpreting production specifications and technical work instructions.
  • Knowledge of machine setup, tooling alignment, and quality control practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with custom slitting operations and specialty material processing.
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane experience.
  • Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or production optimization experience.
  • Advanced understanding of material characteristics, coil handling, and processing techniques.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment around moving equipment and machinery.
