  • Monday – Thursday, 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 40 hours per week
  • Full Time, Temporary Assignment, 12-months
  • Located in Mesa

What you’ll be doing
This position performs field inspections at active construction and development sites to ensure electrical distribution systems and related utility infrastructure are installed according to approved plans, specifications, codes, and safety requirements.

You will be responsible for…
  • Perform field inspections of electrical utility construction and infrastructure at City, developer, and private construction sites.
  • Inspect electrical distribution systems, duct banks, vault systems, and related utility installations for compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Review engineering plans, utility maps, technical drawings, specifications, and construction details.
  • Identify construction deficiencies and communicate required corrections to contractors and construction crews.
  • Prepare and maintain daily inspection logs, progress reports, contractor evaluations, punch lists, and other documentation.
  • Monitor completion of punch list items and ensure deficiencies are properly corrected.
  • Verify required City, County, ADOT, and utility permits are obtained and properly closed out.
  • Monitor contractor schedules, shop drawings, cut sheets, survey requests, and other project requirements.
  • Coordinate utility shutdowns, tie-ins, and construction activities that may affect other City departments or utilities.
  • Communicate professionally with contractors, utility personnel, City departments, other agencies, and members of the public.
  • Explain applicable codes, specifications, and City requirements to contractors and developers.
  • Work safely and effectively around active construction sites and utility operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What skills & experience you’ll bring to us
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1–4 years of experience with the installation of electrical utility infrastructure, including electrical duct banks and vault systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience with commercial construction and development activities.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, utility construction methods, materials, and installation practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, utility maps, technical drawings, and construction details.
  • Ability to identify construction deficiencies and effectively communicate corrective actions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
  • Ability to work safely in active construction and utility environments.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona Class D Driver’s License.
