  • Hourly Pay Rage:  $15.00
  • Shift/Hours: Flexible, up to 20 hours per week
  • Internship, Temporary Assignment (2 Months)
  • Located in Mesa

What you’ll be doing

This position is an eight-week standard length of assignment which provides assistance to various units in the department, including victim services, legal support staff, and prosecutors. Responsibilities require contact with the public, prosecutors, staff, court employees, management, and public officials. The internship is intended to give the intern experience and on-the-job training for work in public service, especially in the criminal justice field. The City Attorney Intern will work with victim services, legal services, or prosecution, or a combination thereof, described below.

You will be responsible for…


Victim Services Assistant:

  • Inform victims of their constitutional and statutory mandated rights within the criminal justice process
  • Accompany victims to court proceedings
  • Assist with orders of protections and injunctions against harassment
  • Provide community resources to victims in need

Legal Services Specialist:
  • Process longform complaints
  • Assist in preparing a case for trial
  • Process motions, responses, and forms
  • Assist in preparing and sending discovery

Prosecutor:
  • Assist the prosecutor with preparing for Court
  • Accompany the prosecutor to various legal proceedings 

What skills & experience you’ll bring to us

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Enrolled in or completed some coursework in an accredited college or university and must be in 3rd or 4th year studying social work, criminal justice, psychology, or other related field.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
