Job Description

CNC Machinist and Programmer

Marathon Staffing is seeking a skilled and dependable CNC Machinist and Programmer to join our team. The ideal candidate is a reliable, detail-oriented professional who takes pride in producing high-quality precision components and can work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers, supervisors, quality personnel, and fellow machinists. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, excellent mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and the ability to consistently meet production and quality standards.

Job Details

  • Position: CNC Machinist and Programmer
  • Location: Simpsonville, SC
  • Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday–Friday (potential overtime)
  • Pay: $25.00–$30.00 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience
  • Employment Type: Full-time - Temporary with permanent hire potential



Job Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC mills, lathes, and other precision machining equipment.
  • Program CNC machines using G-code and CAM software based on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, inserts, and workholding equipment.
  • Set machine offsets, tool lengths, speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters for optimal performance.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, height gauges, and other inspection equipment to verify part dimensions.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, tool wear, dimensional variations, and machine alarms.
  • Make program edits and process adjustments to maintain quality and production requirements.
  • Perform tool changes, machine adjustments, and routine preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and machine documentation.
  • Meet production schedules while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, and minimize material waste.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company and OSHA requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, quality personnel, and other machinists to resolve production issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a CNC Machinist, CNC Programmer, or in a similar precision machining role.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, workholding, and machine setup.
  • Proficiency with G-code and CNC programming; experience with CAM software preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
  • Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to work with measurements, tolerances, and machining calculations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make program adjustments and optimize machining parameters.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, quality parts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attendance, punctuality, reliability, and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and safely perform the physical requirements of a manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; technical or machining education is a plus.
