What you’ll be doing
We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Fishing Instructor to lead recreational fishing programs for community members of all ages. This role focuses on teaching safe fishing techniques, promoting environmental stewardship, and providing an enjoyable and educational outdoor experience in town-managed parks and waterways.
You will be responsible for…
- Lead instructional fishing programs, workshops, and community events for youth and adults
- Teach proper casting, reeling, knot tying, and use of fishing equipment
- Provide guidance on fishing regulations, bait selection, and local fish species
- Promote safety, responsible fishing practices, and conservation awareness
- Supervise participants during outings to ensure a safe and engaging environment
- Maintain fishing equipment and program materials
- Assist with registration, program setup, and cleanup as needed
- Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and Parks & Recreation staff
What skills & experience you’ll bring to us
- Knowledge of fishing techniques, equipment, and safety practices
- Experience teaching or coaching fishing or outdoor recreation activities preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse age groups
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and comply with municipal employment requirements
- Ability to perform outdoor activities in various weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods
