Due to rapid growth, Marathon has a Direct  Position for a CNC Machinist at a Steel Mill company located in Chattanooga, Tn. 

Job Details:

• This is a great Direct Hire opportunity!
• 2nd Shift Monday to Friday (40-50 hours per week)
• Pay: Starting at $28.00 to $30.00/hr

Job Duties:

·       Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand machining requirements. 

·       Plan the sequence of necessary machining steps and associated tooling required to manufacture a part. 

·       Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping 

·       Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job 

·       Develop or adjust machine programs for optimal output and quality 

·       Setup and operation of machines. 

·       Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues 

·       Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and production requirements. 

·       Keep records of approved and defective units of final products 

·       Independently perform basic maintenance on equipment 

·       Comply with manuals, technical data and work instructions for all machining operations 

·       Provide mentoring and training to less experienced machine operators 

 

Qualifications and Education: 

 

·       Experience programming and operating CNC and manual mills, grinders and lathes 

·       Solid working knowledge of Mazak and Hass Controllers and CNC machines 

·       Technical degree in machining technology preferred 

·       At least 7 years working as a machinist 

·       Previous experience machining carbon steels and hardened alloy steels 

·       Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals 

·       Working knowledge of using measurement tools (ex. micrometers, calipers, thread gages, depth cages, bore gages, etc.) 

·       Strong organizational and prioritization skills 

·       Ability to work with minimal supervision while delivering targets
