Job Description
Marathon is seeking qualified candidates for a Direct Hire, Environmental Manager position available immediately in Union City, CA!

The Environmental Manager will prepare environmental compliance reports and work closely with operations personnel to evaluate compliance and develop effective programs and tools to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations.

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

- Performs assignments under the general direction of the AVP of Environmental Services.

- Willingness and ability to quickly learn the site-specific permit & regulatory requirements

- Diligently works to help ensure company operates in compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

- Serves as plant liaison for Local, State and Federal environmental regulatory agencies, including the EPA, DTSC, Certified Unified Program Agencies (CUPAs) and Regional Waterboards, etc.

- Conducts internal environmental compliance inspection to proactively identify, assess, and control potential environmental risks; Examples: visual emission observations, emissions control device operating parameters; waste storage area and container inspections, etc.

- Logs internal environmental compliance inspection results, communicates findings to Leadership Team (and regulatory agencies as required). Tracks corrective actions to completion.

- Prepares and/ or reviews periodic environmental compliance reports generated by consultants (Title V Air Permit Compliance, Emissions Inventory, Federal Foundry Area Source Compliance, TRI, SARA 313, State & Federal Greenhous Gas Inventory, RCRA Waste Shipment, etc.)

- Support California State Programs as needed, including Greenhouse Gas Reporting, Diesel Off-Road Vehicle tracking, Hazardous Material Business Plans, SWPPP and SPCC, etc.  

- Oversees recycling of beneficial reuse materials and disposal of waste material generated at the Union City Foundry

- Schedules and oversees environmental contractor work tasks. Examples: wastewater settling pond cleaning, Periodic Stack Tests, UST integrity tests, ground water monitoring events, etc.

- Records stormwater retention pond water level and samples water quality if there is a significant rainfall event that results in a stormwater discharge.

- Work with the AVP Environmental Services to prepare permit applications as needed.

- Provide training and/or mentoring to operations team on environmental topics, guidelines, and practices. Maintains environmental compliance training records.

Requirements include, but may not be limited to:

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or Environmental-related discipline
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience with environmental compliance programs.
- Familiarity with California CERS and CUPA Programs.
- Familiarity with California Industrial General Stormwater Permit
- Must have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint software.
- Must have ability to pass full background check and drug test

Tentative schedule will be Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Additional hours may be requested or required.

Salary range is $130,000 to $155,000 annually, depending on experience.  Additional incentives/bonus programs!  Great benefits, including tuition reimbursement, 401K, profit sharing, pet insurance and more!
