Registration Assistants

Job Description
Now Hiring Registration Assistants for a Massachusetts University Public Health Promotion Center. Help keep your community healthy including students, educators, program administrators, and many others, by working as a Registration Assistant in the Public Health Promotion Center. This role is largely administrative and public service oriented in nature. Training will be provided in specific technology and protocols followed in the university setting.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

May perform specimen collection/handling, utilize knowledge of department procedures and computerized Lab Information Systems

Support patients with information and direction utilizing laboratory services

Assists health promotion staff with distributing lab results and reports, and processing laboratory specimens for transport to processing site.

Key Responsibilities:

    Must maintain confidentially with patient protected health information in accordance with all HIPPA requirements.
    Must follow all safety protocols to protect patients, co-workers and themselves from transmission of communicable disease.
    Registers, schedules and communicates with patients for needed health promotional services and services such as surveillance laboratory testing.
    Prepares, delivers, and picks up items in accordance with health and safety regulations and laboratory policies to insure specimen integrity, quality patient care and caregiver safety.
    Collects and labels specimens for requested testing, processes specimen according to established guidelines and completes documentation for the specimen.
    Performs data entry of patient demographics, insurance information and tests ordered.
    Completes all paperwork, technical, and nontechnical procedures required to process and submit specimens.
    Receives, handles, sorts, processes or packages specimens.
    Receives and makes telephone calls and uses computer terminal and reference guides to provide information and answer questions from clients and patients, regarding specimen requirements, test results and other client requests.

Required Qualifications

    High School Diploma or Equivalent.
    Strong customer service skills
    Strong organizational skills and ability to manage several projects simultaneously
    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population of students and staff
