Job Description

Looking for Operations Clerk in the Corning Area!



SUMMARY
To maintain a high level of inventory accuracy and integrity for finished goods and materials that ensure enterprise-wide inventories are adequate and positioned correctly to deliver internal and external customer satisfaction.

Key Result Areas (KRA's) include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operations:
a) Monitors Operations processes, system transactions and work instructions throughout Operations, to assure work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
b) Understands and properly executes manual and system (JDE) Work Order transactions.
c) Performs and updates tracking and reporting for metrics on the storyboards.
d) Monitors inventory to ensure it is being managed to first-in, first-out system, to identify and report aging inventory and prevent product loss.

Recordkeeping Accuracy:
a) Performs data management, data analysis, identifies problems, and develops recommendations.
b) Performs research and analysis on special projects as related to Operations efficiency improvement.
c) Develops and maintaining database tables, spreadsheets, metrics, scorecards, and other summary data for analysis purposes.
d) Generates reports as required and requested by Team Leader and/or Department Manager.
e) Assists in tracking efficiency across all department’s production lines.
f) Facilitates business issue problem resolution by working with appropriate end users of systems and processes in all functions.
g) Assists in improving work practices through routine communication with end users.
h) Provides input into system and work process enhancements geared toward improvement on production lines and ERP system.

Order Planning & Scheduling:
a) Responsible for closing Production workorders, reconcile Materials Issuing locations. Translating the demand plan on order scheduling and updating runs according to materials usage and consumption.
b) Monitors materials inventory levels immediately available for future orders.
c) Maintains open communication with the Planning Department and Procurement to restock materials shortages.
d) Monitor and identify obsolete, distressed, and slow-moving inventory of materials that potentially reduce productivity.

Safety:
a) Ensures compliance with OSHA requirements, safety regulations and maintains a safe, clean work environment.
b) Attends and participates in departmental safety meetings and actively participates in the company safety programs.
c) Follows the safety requirements that pertain to the job and areas within the plant, including the company’s GMP and Food Safety policies.

Professional Development:
a) Develops and maintains an ongoing knowledge of the business.
b) Manages a strong partnership and facilitates effective communication with other related Business Units.
c) Analyzes and completes self-improvement activities.
d) Assists in designing of formal training and provides training as requested.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES
Able to perform multiple tasks at the same time, works well under pressure and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. Strong personable attitude and organizational, planning, problem solving, analytical and reasoning skills are essential. The aptitude to manage across functional boundaries. Willingness to accept challenges and respond assertively. Excellent correspondence skills: both verbal and written.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED, required. Minimum of one year in a similar clerical role. Must be computer literate and have experience with record keeping and clerical duties. Proficient with MS Excel (intermediate to advanced level), required. In-depth training will be provided in work orders transactions, packaging processes and specifically in the functioning of the JDEdwards and sticker machines.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Strong communication skills required. The ability to convey (verbal and written) communications to various levels within the organization. Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and investigate, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, customers, and employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, area, circumference volume and cubes. Ability to compute rate, ratio and to create and maintain intricate graphs, charts and spreadsheets. Accurately converts measurements and quantities, e.g., cases per pallet to total quantity, etc.

REASONING ABILITY
Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and abstract and concrete variables. Quantitative data management skills with ability to look at information creatively and develop proposals for process improvements based on findings from data.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, see and hear. The employee is required to sit for prolonged hours; use hands and fingers, typing, handle, feel; reach with hands and arms; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

SQF QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to master all clauses of the SQF quality procedures that apply to this department.
