Job Description
Position: CNC Programmer/Operator, Shift 1 (7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with 1/2 hour unpaid lunch)

Position Summary: Plan, estimate time involved, schedule, program and operate EDM and CNC machines in shop. Coordinate function of this area with mold designers and mold makers in regard to methods, materials, fixtures, and tools to be used.


Job Duties: Work from drawings and interface with CAD system to transfer geometry, edit etc. establish tool paths, speeds and feeds, and best order of operations to product quality components in most economical manner.

Instruct and assist others in set up and operation of CNC machining center to machine parts requiring irregular shapes, angles, radii or grooves having high finish requirements.

Establish and maintain information retrieval system and inventory programs, tools, and procedures to allow for quick access of such data for future work. Responsible for normal maintenance and cleanliness of both machines and equipment.

Responsible for requisitioning and maintaining adequate inventory of cutting tools and all other supplies and equipment necessary for proper operation of the group.


Skills & Experience: High school education or equivalent
Able to perform mathematical functions
Minimum 7 - 10 years experience as an injection mold maker
7 - 10 years experience operating a CNC machining center
Must be experienced using CAD
Experience with Cimitron Cad-Cam software a plus
Experience using Bridgeport and other mold making equipment
Able to communicate well
Must be able to work independently


Physical Ability to operate an overhead crane, and battery operated hand truck
Requirements: Must be able to stand or sit for eight hours
Visually able to work with minute details on tool drawings.
Able to lift/pull/push 50 lb. equivalent.
Must be able to work with various cutting oils.


Employees are required and expected to support weekend coverage on overtime, alternating on Saturdays and Sundays.
